About the Dachshund
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "sausage dog" or "wiener dog," is one of the most recognisable and beloved dog breeds in the world. Originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers, their distinctive long body and short legs were purposefully developed to allow them to dig into burrows and navigate underground tunnels.
Despite their small stature, Dachshunds are remarkably brave and tenacious. They possess a bold, confident personality that belies their size. These spirited dogs are fiercely loyal to their families and form deep bonds with their owners, often becoming devoted one-person dogs.
Dachshunds come in three coat varieties — smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired — each with its own unique charm. They also come in two sizes: standard and miniature. Their playful, curious nature and expressive faces make them endlessly entertaining companions.
